How long is my appointment?

The length of your appointment will depend on the particulars of your itinerary and the number of people traveling with you, it may take between 15 and 60 minutes, once you book it you will know the exact length of your visit.

When should I come in for my immunizations?

We recommend that you book your appointment as soon as you know your destination and date of departure
-I do not have much time before leaving on my trip. Should I still get my immunizations?
It is better to book an appointment at least 6-8 weeks prior to departure, but you can always minimize the risk; it is never too late to get immunizations.

-Do I have to have immunizations?

Immunizations, along with recommended preventive measures, will help you stay healthy so you can enjoy your journey and your return home.

-What immunizations do I need before I leave on my trip?

Health risks when traveling vary significantly according to your destination, duration of travel, purpose of your visit and, most important, your health. A customized pre-travel visit is highly recommended. Please contact a qualified health provider and book an appointment.

-Would my insurance cover the cost of these immunizations?

Most Provincial Health Care Plans do not cover travel immunization. However, some private insurance companies may reimburse the cost depending on the level of coverage. A receipt with the Drug Identification Number will be issued to you at each visit.

-What do I need to bring to my appointment?

In order to provide you with and excellent services the following are things we need to know prior to your appointment: This include items such as previous immunization records (Contact your local health centre to get a copy if you don't have one), a list of medications you are currently taking, your travel itinerary, etc.

-How do I cancel an appointment?

You can contact us at anytime by phone or email. If you cancel by email, you will receive a confirmation of your cancellation. If you do not receive this confirmation, please contact us during regular business hours, or leave us a message (780) 465 - 5150. You need to give us 48 hours notice to avoid a short notice cancellation fee of $30.00 per person.

-What does Short notice (less than 48 hrs) cancelation or no show fee means?

This fee is applicable to recuperate the Time and Cost of our Travel Health Consultants not being able to service other clients. It is highly advisable to cancel or rescheduled your appointment at least 48 hours in advance, to help you, you will be receiving a reminder of your appointment which gives you the chance to confirm or reschedule at this time.

-What is the benefit of a Travel Clinic Consult?

The Travel Health Consultants are trained in travel health offering you up to date information, required and recommended vaccinations and prescriptions specific to your travel itinerary.

-What side effects may I experience following vaccination?

Most vaccines cause no reactions outside of some local redness or tenderness at the injection site. With a consult visit you will receive an International Immunization Record booklet with general health tips about specific disease and vaccines.
